Being Responsibly Selfish, Alone!

Laura Sly
Trainer

One of the ways I will enjoy being responsibly selfish this summer is to go for walks alone as well as with other people. I love walking with my friends and my partner and chatting with them. I appreciate it when they notice different things and point out a butterfly I'd missed or we wonder together what a plant is called (or, increasingly, try to remember it when we definitely know).
However, time without conversation feels valuable too. I can wander at the pace most comfortable for me, stop and look at things without feeling I'm holding anybody up, go a new route without negotiation, and hear my own thoughts. We all fall into roles and people expect certain responses and behaviour from us, even on a walk, so it is freeing to just please myself.

INDIVIDUAL CLIENT
It made me stop and evaluate where I am and how I’m feeling. How to show up for myself in my job and life and recognise signs of burnout and emotional fatigue and how to help myself"
